It is not uncommon to use food as a mechanism for comfort when you are upset or to turn to food for a moment of stress relief. You may have learned at an early age that food can help you relax or that it can make you feel better. You may even feel that you deserve to eat whatever you want when you are stressed or upset. Stress often comes when we have constraints on our time. We rationalize unhealthy eating by thinking we don’t have the time to eat healthy or that we are too tired to eat anything but easy-access, unhealthy food.
